When you're feeling tired, worn, hopeless, crushed, or ready to give up, I encourage you to turn to God. Seek Him out for strength, rest, healing, comfort, & peace. This song is written about those times in our lives. You can feel the sincerity in the lyrics as he cries out to God. They wrote this song during a hard time of their life. I feel like everyone can relate to this song.
If you've had a bad day, I encourage you to listen to this song and spend time in prayer with God.
Worn - Tenth Avenue North
When I'm tired and worn it either produces worry in my life, or it's caused by worry in my life. Let's look at what the Bible says about worrying. Look at Matthew 6:25-34.
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?" - Matthew 6:25-27.
From the start Jesus says, [paraphrased] "Do not worry about your life, your food, your body, or your clothing." Plain and simple. But as if that weren't enough He gives us an example. He says [paraphrased] "Look at the birds. They don't plant and harvest their own food, yet I still feed them. Don't you think I'd do the same for you?" Then He asks this [paraphrased] "Can any of you add time to your life by worrying?" Obviously we can't (which was Jesus' point). Don't worry about your life or the food you'll eat, God will take care of you.
“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?" - Matthew 6:28-30
Looking at these verses Jesus makes another example but more specifically directed to worrying about clothing. He states, [paraphrased] "Look at the lilies in the field, they grow, and yet can't do anything on their own. But even Solomon (a beautifully dressed king) still wasn't dressed like any of these. Now if I clothe the lilies today, just for then to be gone tomorrow, don't you think I'd clothe you (my child) even better? Where is your faith?" Again, we worry about having the name brand clothing (I too am guilty of this) when it's pointless. We know from scripture that God will clothe us better than American Eagle, Hollister, or Aeropostale ever could. Don't worry about your clothing. Don't worry about your life. Don't worry about food. Don't worry about your body. God promises to take care of all of it!
Reducing your worrying will help you as you seek out peace in your worn out state. Don't forget, God is in control. Have faith that He can get you through this tough time that your in. Pray that God will give you strength and endurance to persevere. This is what your Lord God commands. Are you ready?
