“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
Psalm 37:4 ESV
Am I delighting in the one who is eternal and striving for eternal things, or do I delight in my stuff and love myself more?
I think if we're honest, we really can't answer this questions without some sort of justification. I'm bi-vocational so I work very hard for what I have, but if I am transparent, I'll admit that there are moments in my life when my delighting in my stuff can out weigh my delighting in the Lord.
This where I love King David. Not because he committed adultery and murdered a man, but because he was more concerned about his own sin than everyone else's. He was genuinely concerned about his relationship with God. Does he look crazy when you read Psalms? Yes, but is he a mane striving for Gods own heart? Absolutely!
As God sanctifies me, I'm finding that as I pursue his (God's) heart, My heart syncs with his desires and his desires become my desires. At the end of my life, I want the desires of my heart to everything that God himself desires! Is it easy? No! Is it possible? Yes!
So how do we do it? My life has to be about prioritizing every moment in my life for his honor and his glory? From being a husband, to being a daddy, from selling cars, to preaching the gospel, I must make sure Christ is my everything! I must continue to synchronize my life with the heart of Jesus so that I make make much of him forever until he comes back to get me!
He pursues to be pursued!
