1) The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. 2) He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. 3) He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. 4) Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5) You prepare a table bevore me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oril; My cup overflows. 6) Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
-Psalm 23 (NASB)First, I will give you a list of the different names of God talked about in the Psalm.
Jehovah-Shalom means The Lord is our Peace. We can also see this in Judges 6:24.
Jehovah-Raha means The Lord is my Shepherd. We can see this all throughout Psalm 23.
Jehovah-Jireh means The Lord will provide. We can see this in Genesis 22:14 as well.
Jehovah-Nissi means The Lord our Banner or Victor. We can see this in Exodus 17:15.
Jehovah-Tsidkenu means The Lord our Righteousness. We can see this in Jeremiah 33:14-16.
Jehovah-Rapha means The Lord that Healeth. We can see this one in Exodus 15:26.
Johovah-Shammah means The Lord with us or is present. We can see this one in Ezekiel 48:33 as well.
Like I said before, we can see all of these different names talked about in this Psalm.
1) The Lord is my shepherd (Jehovah-Raha); I shall not want (Jehovah-Jireh).
2) He makes me lie down in green pastures (Jehovah-Shalom); He leads me beside quiet waters (Jehovah Raha).
3) He restores my soul (Jehovah-Rapha); He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake (Jehovah Tsidkenu).
4) Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil (Jehovah-Nissi); for you are with me (Jehovah-Shammah); Your rod and Your staff they comfort me (Jehovah-Raha).
5) You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies (Jehovah-Nissi); You have anointed my head with oil (Jehovah-Rapha); my cup overflows (Jehovah-Jireh).
6) Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
In a verse that we use quite often, we see where God is our peace, is our shepherd, will provide, is our victor, our righteousness, our health, and is with us. How great is our God? He is awesome.
Let us remember that no matter what we are going through, God will be with us in at least one these ways.
